5. Delievery
The month of June was full of activities. Wendy assigned more work to Nuar and he was glad to do it. Their numbers were increasing almost each day at their gatherings. The cause was noble and rational.
Along with Wendy’s work, Nuar took up a job of a Pizza Delivery boy. As a young man he had never fallen in love but it was something that was just waiting to happen.
On a lazy Sunday of July, Nuar didn’t even remotely want to go out but an order was placed and off he was with the delivery. He hoped the person was alone, someone who he could recruit for their cause. Well within the time limit of 30 minutes delivery. Nuar ran up the flight of stairs and found apartment A-5, the pizza’s destination. The building was very quiet, and the sound of the bell was loud as a honker.
A minute later a beautiful girl, opened the door. Nuar was stunned by her beauty. Lost in thoughts he stared at her, mouth wide open. The girl blushed giving a shy smile, and took the pizza box in. Nuar peeked to see if she was alone. Yes she was! When she came to the door, he stared at her, their eyes met and locked in a gaze. He shook hands with her and squeezed her hand hard. The girl slipped into a trance. Nuar took hold of her as she collapsed. Just then he heard a noise, inside, someone calling out to the girl, Anna. Nuar panicked.
He left the girl at the door, still in a trance and ran. He could not be caught, not until ‘they’ are ready. He rushed to meet Wendy and told her about the incidence. She turned grim and remained silent for the rest of the time. Later in the evening, Wendy called on Nuar and told him, the girl died.
Nuar was distraught. He felt a pain greater than anything he had ever experienced in his life. Just to imagine the pretty face, lifeless and dead. The man took her to the hospital and on treatment to the cut she died. Nuar couldn’t help cursing himself for being irresponsible and careless.
Adding insult to injury was the rising number to deaths, because of ‘their’ kind of people being reckless and stupid. It was high time that his people got their act together and become more careful and responsible.
