Before The End: Chapter6: Jack-ed

6. Jack-ed

Harris could not just sit on his haunches and wait for Dr.Wong. He still believed that there would be some lead to Anna Sharden case, something that would link all the cases of deaths. He had to find the missing link. Over the years of work in the department, he had learnt a lot of things the hard way. Many a times criminals become complacent after some period of time and that is when you can get them. Harris secretly arranged for search warrants of Jack’s old and new house. He had a watcher on his tail everyday for over a week now. Nothing suspicious came out of it. The last on his check list was a soft interrogation. This technique of Harris had become a part of NYPD procedure owing to its success rate. If Jack cleared this, it would mean that it definitely would not be murder and that New York is in serious medical problems.

Julia White was Harris’ right hand man. She was a stunner and blinding fast with weapons. Julia had been working under Harris for over 5 years. She was tall strong and yet very attractive. He called upon her to brief her about Jack’s case. Punctuality mattered a lot to Harris and Julia was very punctual.

At the stroke of 10 in the morning, Julia entered Harris’s cabin.

“Hello Harris, how do you do?”

“Quiet fine. Thank you”

“So what do you have in store for me?’

“You have to do Jack Milford.”

“Alright sure, can I have a copy of the brief?”

“There.” Harris gave her a copy of details about Jack along with his observations, even the small little details like how he gestures a good bye or says hello.

“Thank you so much. Ah! I see the warrants too. So 7.30 p.m right?”

“Yes.”

“Well I will see you tomorrow then Harris. Good day.”

“Good day!”

Julia left. Not a rare sight to see heads turn as she walks by. Harris though was lost in his thoughts, hoping for a crackdown soon, if not on the criminal front at least on the medical front.

Julia had a plan hatching in her mind, as soon as she left Harris’s office.

Plan:

Burst in: 7.30p.m

Enter: 8.0p.m.

Interrogate till 8.30p.m.

Burst in team leaves by 8 p.m.

She drove into her garage, and went in for her afternoon nap. The trees were shedding leaves. The warm winds always sent a chill down her spine or was she scared of what she was about to do?
